Russian bombers deployed to Kyrgyzstan to take part in Peaceful mission 2016

A wing of tactical bombers Su-24M, reconnaissance planes Su-24MR and strike helicopters Mi-24 of the Central MD have been redeployed from the Chelyabinsk and Novosibirsk Region to the Kyrgyz Republic to take part in the joint counterterrorist exercise Peaceful mission – 2016 conducted by the member-states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Within the exercise, the crews will practice missions on countering illegal armed formations at the Edelweiss range in the coastal zone of the Issyk-Kul lake.

The Russian Armed Forces are represented by a tactical group of the 55th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Central MD located in the southern Siberia.

Mountain units will carry out combat training tasks using armoured automobile vehicles Tigr. They will be reinforced by unmanned aviation, reconnaissance, special task force, EW units as well as SAM systems.

The total strength of the contingent is about 500 servicemen.
