Syrian opposition shot down a helicopter near Aleppo

On Monday evening, a Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) helicopter suddenly crashed near the Palestinian “Nayrab Refugee Camp” after coming under heavy gunfire from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham during its take-off at this area in the Aleppo Governorate’s southeastern countryside.

According to a military source in Aleppo, the aircraft was carrying medical supplies, food, clothing, and other provisions for the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers that under the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) brutal siege at the Kuweries Military Airport in southeast Aleppo.

The military source added that the pilot and his crew were all also killed by the impact of the crash; this aerial disaster marks the second time in two months that a Syrian Air Force helicopter has crashed outside of Aleppo City.
