Saudi Arabia planning to buy new French Titus 6×6 multirole armoured vehicles

Saudi Arabia has reached a deal to buy the new generation of 6×6 multirole armoured vehicles designed and manufactured by the French Defense Company Nexter Systems S.A. (part of KNDS). That was reported by www.latribune.fr.

Riyadh plans to equip two brigades of Saudi land forces with new French TITUS  armored vehicles and towed guns 155 mm caliber. The total cost of this contract is estimated at 300 million euros.

The TITUS (Tactical Infantry Transport & Utility System) is a new generation of 6×6 multirole armoured vehicle designed.

The armoured wheeled vehicle is mounted on a Tatra 6×6 chassis. The vehicle has a length of 7.55m, width of 2.55m and height of 2.73m.

The combat weight of the TITUS is 23t, which can be optionally increased to 27t by substituting the baggage space of 4t. The internal volume of the vehicle is more than 14m3 including 4m3 of storage space.

The V-shaped monocoque hull of the TITUS is an all-welded steel armour, offering STANAG 4569 level two protection, with an option to be upgraded to STANAG 4569 level four.

The TITUS can be configured to suit a variety of military missions based on the mission intensity. It can be customised to accommodate 7.62mm RCWS, protection level two, forward crowd fence, dozer blade and non-lethal weapons for less intensive environments.

It can be customised to accommodate 12.7mm or 20mm RCWS, 40mm grenade launchers, protection level three, jammers and shoot detectors for conventional warfare.
