Secure unbroken communication for the military in all conditions

The Innovations Development Platform – the Ukrainian agency for incubation and implementation of innovation projects in the defence industry – is currently engaged in development of a mobile tropospheric radio relay station.

The product is the solution to the problem of unavailability of high-speed secure lines of unbroken communication for up to 150 km.

The key features of the development include:

  • Prompt deployment of secure communication lines irrespective of surface obstacles
  • Enhanced counter intelligence protection and protection against spot jamming due to considerable space selectivity of radiation
  • Unbroken communication that does not depend on the nature of combat operations, geomagnetic activity, high-altitude nuclear explosions or other destabilising factors that may affect other types of communication
  • Ensuring of mobile communication for up to 50 km

Due to the technology that enables the lower prime cost of the product, users may save their expenses spent on communication equipment and, simultaneously, benefit from the higher speed of data transfer if compared with competitors’ developments.

Communication units of the Army Field Command, rescue units of Emergency Services, services of law enforcement authorities and mining companies are expected to be the key users of this development.

The current project status – based on the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) model – is TRL3. It means that the product development is currently at the stage of analytical and experimental proof of critical functions and concept parameters of the product, while some elements are still at the approbation stage.

The Innovations Development Platform is open for cooperation and will readily provide potential partners with the detailed technical specifications and operation principles of the development under the Project.
