Russian armored vehicle spotted in Iran

Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radan, Commander of Iran’s Law Enforcement Force (LEF), recently inspected the Russian-made Spartak armored vehicle, better known as the VPK-Ural.

While it remains unclear whether Iran plans to procure the Spartak vehicles, reports suggest they may be deployed in Iran’s border regions near Pakistan to enhance the capabilities of border security units. Some sources indicate that Iran has already acquired 25 units and is considering the possibility of localizing production within its territory.

The VPK-Ural, developed by the Russian company VPK in partnership with UAE-based Streit Group, is built on the chassis of the two-axle, all-wheel-drive Ural-53099 truck.

Streit Group markets the vehicle under the name Condor.

First unveiled in 2019, the Spartak was designed during the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, which prompted developers to rely on domestic components, including a 360-horsepower Yaroslavl diesel engine, due to international sanctions and restrictions.

The armored vehicle is tailored for diverse combat and support roles, with features designed to withstand modern battlefield conditions.
