Polish MiG-29 fighter aircraft crashes shortly after takeoff

A supersonic MiG-29 fighter jet of Polish Air Force crashed near the town of Stoczek, on Monday.

According to several media reports, MiG-29 fighter assigned to the 23rd Tactical Air Base of the Polish Air Force shortly after taking off on a training mission. Some source reported that the pilot ejected from the fighter jet.

Witnesses told that the MiG-29’s p[ilot was evacuated to a military hospital at Szaserów in Warsaw and he is a stable condition.

According to Defence24.pl, the crash occurred at 13:17 in the fourth minute after the takeoff from the Mińsk Mazowiecki airport. The military plane was supposed to take a technical flight after the work carried out on it.

A MiG-29 has crashed in the woods, causing a fire, that has already been extinguished, the radio station RMF FM reported.

Ten fire brigades and police from neighbouring Wegrow have reportedly been sent to the place of the incident.

Officials said the crash of military aircraft was under investigation.
