Russia’s state-owned United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has delivered another batch of Su-34 fighter-bombers to the Russian Aerospace Forces.
According to a statement from Rostec, the aircraft have successfully completed all required ground and flight tests and have now been handed over to their military operator. The company said production remains on schedule and emphasized the bomber’s central role in Russia’s aerial campaign.
“The Su-34 multirole bomber has long become a legend,” Rostec said. “This aircraft combines high maneuverability, a wide range of weapons, and the ability to operate effectively in any conditions. During its use in the special military operation, it has confirmed its status as the best in its class and remains one of the key elements of Russia’s combat aviation. We understand the high demand for this aircraft in the armed forces. Our aviation plants are not reducing the pace of Su-34 production and regularly deliver new aircraft to the customer, strengthening the country’s defense capability. New deliveries are planned before the end of the year.”
The delivery marks the fifth batch of Su-34 aircraft transferred to the Russian military this year.
Rostec said the aircraft were accepted by Aerospace Forces crews in accordance with “targeted tasks set by the Minister of Defense” for the delivery of high-demand weapon systems and equipment to the field.
A Su-34 pilot from the Russian Aerospace Forces described the bomber’s flexibility and combat record, highlighting its ability to perform a wide range of missions.
“This aircraft allows us to carry out combat tasks across the entire speed range,” the pilot said. “In the special military operation, it has proven itself in the best way. We can employ both guided and unguided aerial weapons.”
The twin-seat Su-34, produced by UAC and operated by the Russian Aerospace Forces, is designed for precision strikes against ground and surface targets, as well as for air-to-air engagements. The aircraft is capable of targeting infrastructure protected by air defense systems and operating at considerable distances from its home base. It can also be deployed for aerial reconnaissance missions, adding to its operational versatility.
The latest delivery comes as Russia continues to rely heavily on its tactical aviation fleet for long-range strikes against Ukrainian positions and infrastructure. The Su-34, often armed with precision-guided bombs and stand-off munitions, has played a prominent role in these operations since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022.
Alongside the Su-34, the Russian military has also received new Su-35S fighter jets this year. The fifth known delivery of Su-35 aircraft took place recently, following previous transfers in March, May, June, and August. The addition of these advanced fighters is intended to enhance Russia’s air superiority and support ongoing strike operations.
The steady flow of new aircraft underlines Moscow’s continued focus on replenishing and modernizing its combat aviation assets despite Western sanctions and export restrictions on aerospace technology.
