In a March 14 announcement, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) confirmed awarding BAE Systems Land & Armaments LP, located in Sterling Heights, Michigan, a firm-fixed-price modification valued at $188,455,777 for the production of Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACV).
This modification exercises options under an existing contract, which, if fully executed, could reach a total value of approximately $3.86 billion.
Specifically, this contract modification covers the procurement of 30 full-rate production ACVs equipped with medium-caliber cannons, along with associated production, fielding, and support activities. According to the announcement, work is scheduled for completion by August 2028 and will be conducted across multiple locations, including York, Pennsylvania; Aiken, South Carolina; San Jose, California; Sterling Heights, Michigan; and Stafford, Virginia.
The Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) is an armored personnel carrier designed to replace the Marine Corps’ aging fleet of Assault Amphibious Vehicles (AAVs). The ACV offers enhanced mobility and survivability in complex combat environments, capable of operating effectively on both land and sea. Equipped with advanced armor, the vehicle provides improved protection against contemporary battlefield threats. Its modular design allows for multiple mission variants, including troop transport, command and control, and direct fire support.
Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Virginia, manages this contract, emphasizing the ACV’s role in maintaining the Marine Corps’ capability to conduct amphibious operations effectively.
Fiscal 2025 procurement funding will cover the current award, which will remain valid beyond the fiscal year’s conclusion.
