Ukrainian strikes hit Russian ammunition depot

Ukrainian forces struck a Russian ammunition depot near the town of Ostrogozhsk in the Voronezh region of Russia.

The attack, which reportedly involved drones, led to a series of detonations that continued into the early morning hours.

The governor of Voronezh Oblast, Alexander Gusev, confirmed the incident, stating that the region was targeted by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), resulting in the detonation of explosive materials.

“Several UAVs were destroyed or suppressed by air defense forces and electronic warfare systems in Voronezh Oblast. The resulting fire caused by falling debris led to the detonation of explosive objects,” Gusev said. He also noted that no new casualties or damage to civilian buildings had been reported.

Earlier, Gusev had announced that an unmanned aerial vehicle was allegedly shot down, leading to a fire and the injury of one person.

The telegram channel Astra reported that the ammunition depot in Ostrogozhsk was ablaze, with explosions continuing throughout the night.

Ukrainian forces have repeatedly utilized drones for reconnaissance and targeted strikes, often with significant impact. The ability to strike deep within Russian territory, particularly at a military installation, highlights the evolving nature of the war.
