Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received 1,400 Senator armored vehicles from Canadian manufacturer Roshel, according to CEO Roman Shimonov.
Speaking at the MSPO 2024 defense exhibition, Shimonov confirmed the significant scale of deliveries in an interview with DefenseWebTV.
“As I’ve mentioned, we have delivered 14 hundred vehicles to Ukraine,” Shimonov stated.
The Senator Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) has become a critical asset in Ukraine’s defense efforts, providing both protection and versatility on the battlefield. Originally designed for law enforcement and agencies such as NASA, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Senator has been adapted for military use in Ukraine, including upgrades to enhance protection against landmines.
Roshel, one of Canada’s largest armored vehicle manufacturers, produces several configurations of the Senator, including the APC, Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV), Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) variant, and a pickup truck version. These vehicles support a wide range of missions, including cargo transport, counter-UAV operations, and even mortar installations.
In addition to the Senator, Roshel is also working on a new 8×8 armored vehicle project, expanding its offerings to meet the growing demand for versatile, robust military platforms.
The Senator’s contributions to Ukraine’s defense highlight the international support the country has received since the start of the conflict. With its proven adaptability and strong design, the vehicle has become a key component in Ukraine’s efforts to protect personnel and maintain mobility in contested areas.
