Scramble Magazine releases new photos of Ukrainian Su-27 crash site

The Dutch aviation publication Scramble Magazine has released new photos from the crash site of the Ukrainian Su-27 fighter aircraft, which crashed in Zhytomyr region on December 15.

The Su-27 fighter aircraft code 55 blue, c/n 36911021308, of 831 Guards Tactical Aviation Brigade, was spotted the fields just outside Ozerne Air Base (11 km southeast of Zhytomyr) in between the approach beacons.

Photos released by the Scramble Magazine of a plane that crashed near Ozerne Air Base show extensive damage to the aircraft. But aircraft itself is not completely destroyed and it clearly skidded through the fields horizontally.

According to a statement of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Dec. 15, 2018, at around 3 p.m., the Su-27 fighter jet crashed on landing while making routinetraining mission.

The pilot was killed in the crash.
