Russian military column destroyed by Ukrainian tank fire

Ukrainian troops successfully ambushed and destroyed a Russian armored column advancing in the Kursk region, according to the Militarnyi report.

The column, which was attempting to break through on the left flank of Ukrainian forces, was halted after coming under tank fire.

The ambush resulted in the destruction of several Russian vehicles, including a “VPK-Ural” armored personnel carrier, a BTR-80, a UAZ-452, and a tank equipped with a mine plow. The location of the ambush was geolocated on the Rylsk-Korenovo-Sudya highway, approximately 5 kilometers south of Olgivka.

The Russian convoy was reportedly heading toward the villages of Zelenyi Shlyakh and Novoivanivka, continuing its effort to breach Ukrainian defensive lines. This advance was part of a larger push by Russian forces in the area, with Ukrainian military analysts noting a significant concentration of enemy troops and equipment.

The Ukrainian project DeepState confirmed that Russian forces had made initial progress in the direction of the targeted villages but were ultimately stopped after a fierce resistance.

“Today was an incredibly difficult day near Novoivanivka. Our artillery units and drone operators had to engage in direct combat. While the enemy initially gained ground near Snagost, they were completely halted by the end of the day,” DeepState analysts reported.

The success of the Russian advance is attributed to their assembling a strong force in the area, which highlighted challenges for Ukrainian troops in coordinating their defense. One significant factor identified was the lack of seamless coordination between Ukrainian units, many of which were pulled together from different brigades and organized into company- and battalion-level formations.

Despite these challenges, Ukrainian forces have demonstrated their resilience and tactical capability, successfully repelling the Russian offensive for now.
