The decision to buy German armored vehicles was taken at the end of 2015. Lithuania will receive “Boxers” in the armoured personnel carrier, equipped with Israeli combat unit with 30-mm gun Mk.II and anti-tank Spike LR. The new machines will go into service two of the four infantry battalions of the Lithuanian army. Lithuanian Boxers will be fitted with the Israeli-made RAFAEL Samson Mk II enhanced survivability multiple weapon stations with 30mm gun and Spike-LR anti-tank missiles .
Canons are able to punch any APC and IFV (not tanks) produced and only planned to produce in whole post-Soviet area while Spike-LR is very well designed to kill T-72 and T-90 tanks.
