Lebanese Armed Forces unveils new Guarani armoured personnel carriers

The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) officially unveiled a new  Guarani 6×6 armoured vehicle personnel carriers.

The first VBTP (Viatura Blindada de Transporte de Pessoal) Guarani armored vehicles personal carriers of LAF was unveiled during the military parade. The VBTP-MR Guarani (Portuguese  Viatura Blindada Transporte de Pessoal ) is a 6×6 armoured personnel carrier developed by Iveco for the Brazilian Army as part of its modernization program to replace EE-11 Urutu.

The Guarani is fitted with an armour protection, which gives protection against small arms fire and artillery shell splinters. The vehicle can be fitted with add-on composite armor for improved protection. This armored personnel carrier has a V-shaped hull, which provides protection against landmines. Interior is fitted with a spall liner.

The Lebanese Armed Forces ordered 10 VBTP Guarani armored vehicles personal carriers in 2015. According to the contact, the Iveco plant in Sete Lagoas (Brazil) must be produced the 10 vehicles.
