India shows interest in modern combat vehicles from Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of India is showing growing interest in the Ukrainian-made modern and upgraded combat armoured vehicles.

SFTE “SpetsTechnoExport” *, part of Ukroboronprom, organized a visit of the official delegation of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of India to the SE “Kiev Armored Plant” on 4 June.

According to the statement of the company, during the visit to the plant, Indian guests were acquainted with the new products of the Ukrainian defence industry, including samples of modern and upgraded armored vehicles. During the meeting, SpetsTechnoExport showcased to the Indian official delegation the actual developments of the Ukrainian defense companies, in particular, new Kozak-2M armoured vehicle, BTR-3DA 8×8-wheeled armored personnel carrier, upgraded T-72AMT upgraded main battle tank, developments concerning the modernization of BMP-1 and BTR-60 and others.

Ukraine, represented by the SpetsTechnoExport, have strategic partnerships with India to a length of time. As to date, SpetsTechnoExport fulfills successfully its obligations to its strategic partner the Ministry of Defense of India.

At a recent DefExpo India 2018 exhibition, SpetsTechnoExport also concluded new contracts with a total value of more than half a billion hryvnias between Ukrainian defence industry enterprises and the Indian defense industrial complex.  Special attention was paid to the following projects: new civil and military transport aircraft development on the base of “Antonov” aircraft, production localization of Ukrainian tactic UAVs in India and accelerating of the further modernization of the Indian fleet of AN-32. The last five of 40 AN-32 aircraft – modernized in Ukraine – were transferred by “SpetsTechnoExport” to India in 2015.
