Germany has delivered a new military aid package to Ukraine, including advanced weaponry, ammunition, and equipment to support the country’s ongoing defense efforts.
The update was detailed on the German government’s official website and follows Defense Minister Boris Pistorius’ unexpected visit to Ukraine on January 14, 2025.
The new aid package includes a wide range of weaponry, ammunition, and equipment designed to bolster Ukraine’s operational capabilities.
Highlights include:
- 20 vehicles with mine and ambush protection
- 14,000 155mm artillery shells
- 19,000 122mm artillery rounds
- 600 HF-1 attack drones
- 50 VECTOR reconnaissance drones
- 46 RQ-35 HEIDRUN reconnaissance drones
- Ammunition for Leopard 1 tanks
- 495 HK 416 assault rifles
- 11,000 120mm mortar rounds
Additionally, Germany will supply nine Boxer RCT30 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). These vehicles are equipped with a 30mm cannon capable of firing programmable munitions and are expected to serve as mobile fire control centers, particularly for counter-drone operations.
A notable aspect of Germany’s contribution is the delivery of advanced artillery systems. During his visit, Minister Pistorius presented the first of 54 RCH 155 wheeled self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. Manufactured by KNDS Group, these systems are expected to significantly enhance Ukraine’s long-range firepower.
The first RCH 155 howitzer was handed over at KNDS Group’s facility in Kassel, Germany, where Ukrainian crews will undergo training. The initial six systems are slated for delivery in 2025, with more to follow as part of Germany’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s artillery capabilities.
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorious has officially handed over the first RCH155 155mm Self-Propelled Gun to Oleksii Makeiev, Ukraine’s Ambasador to Germany, today at the KNDS de facility in Kassel.

The expanded aid package comes at a critical time, addressing Ukraine’s need for advanced weaponry and support to counter increasingly complex battlefield challenges.
