The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has released a new recruitment video featuring a robotic dog armed with an assault rifle.
The promotional clip, published this week by the SBU, includes footage from tactical training exercises in which a quadrupedal unmanned ground vehicle, resembling a robotic dog, is seen maneuvering indoors and firing a rifle.
As observed in the video, the robot is equipped with a CZ BREN 2 assault rifle mounted on its back, paired with a 60-round Magpul PMAG D-60 drum magazine. The drone appears to be controlled remotely and engages targets in a simulated training environment under the supervision of SBU personnel.
The SBU did not disclose the name of the robot’s manufacturer or whether the system is already deployed in field operations. However, the video is clearly intended to highlight the agency’s interest in modern battlefield technologies and to appeal to a new generation of recruits with backgrounds in engineering, robotics, and IT.
Robotic dogs with integrated weapon systems have been tested by other militaries and private companies in recent years, including in the U.S. and China, though their operational effectiveness and battlefield survivability remain under evaluation. The Ukrainian video marks one of the first publicly shared examples of such a system being used in training by a national security agency in the context of a full-scale war.

The SBU’s inclusion of the armed robot is part of a broader shift in Ukraine’s defense posture, which has increasingly emphasized asymmetric capabilities, rapid prototyping, and localized production of drones, unmanned systems, and AI-assisted platforms.
While the footage does not confirm live-fire deployment of the robot in combat, it demonstrates that Ukraine is testing small arms integration with autonomous ground platforms in controlled settings. These systems could potentially be used for urban reconnaissance, clearing operations, or as expendable forward elements in high-risk missions.
The robot dog seen in the video is outfitted with multiple sensors and appears to operate with human oversight. The presence of the CZ BREN 2 rifle, a modern assault weapon used by Ukrainian special units, further indicates that the prototype is intended for close-quarters use.
