US Army awards $376M contract for Black Hawks

Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, has been awarded a $375.9 million contract modification to provide full funding for the production of UH-60M and HH-60M Black Hawk helicopters for the U.S. Army.

The contract, managed by the Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, includes work to be performed in Stratford, Connecticut, and is expected to be completed by December 31, 2027.

The funding, sourced from the Army’s Fiscal Year 2025 aircraft procurement budget, will ensure continued production and delivery of the versatile Black Hawk helicopters. These aircraft serve as the backbone of the Army’s rotary-wing fleet, supporting a range of missions from medical evacuation to troop transport and supply delivery.

The UH-60M is the latest iteration of the Black Hawk, featuring upgraded avionics, improved survivability, and enhanced performance capabilities. The HH-60M variant is specifically configured for medical evacuation missions, equipped with advanced medical equipment and systems to support in-flight patient care.

The Black Hawk has been a critical asset for the U.S. Army since its introduction, with its adaptability and reliability ensuring its place in both combat and humanitarian operations worldwide.
