UkrOboronProm showcases upgraded 122mm multiple rocket launcher

Ukrainian aerospace and defense conglomerate UkrOboronProm (UOP) took the opportunity at this year’s Arms and Security 2018 international specialized exhibition to highlight its latest upgraded variant of the Grad truck-mounted 122 mm multiple rocket launcher.

The new upgraded variant of the Grad truck-mounted 122 mm multiple rocket launcher is developed by the SE “Shepetivka Repair Plant” (part of the UkrOboronProm). It is a special installation kit of artillery element 122 mm RZZ BM-21 “Hrad”, manufactured using Ukrainian components only.

Called the Berest, the upgraded multiple rocket launcher is mounted on 9-tonnes 4×4 off road chassis КrАZ-5401НЕ and equipped with a cabin for 5 people.

The integration of new digital technologies, into new Berest multiple rocket launcher, allows to target the destination directly from the cockpit, provides high-precision navigation and topography, and can significantly reduce the time for deployment of the complex due to automatic modes of operation. Fire control and aiming are performed automatically from the cabin, without soldiers’ direct intervention.

The Berest has two-row four-door bonnetless cab. Wide tires and tire pressure adjustment system make it possible using special vehicle both on and off road. What is more, two fuel tanks with capacity of 165 l ensure fuel range of up to 600 km for carrying personnel and equipment for rescue or any other works depending on vehicle specification. The vehicle can travel at a speed of over 90 km/h.

The cab of the КrАZ-5401НЕ vehicle offers ergonomic working environment, with comfortable air-suspended seat, tilt and height adjustable steering column, functional dashboard.
