Ukraine hits Russian spy radar in Black Sea strike

Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has carried out a targeted drone strike on Russian radar and supply facilities located on captured gas extraction platforms in the Black Sea.

According to Oboronka, the complex attack involved both aerial and maritime drones operated by the 13th Main Directorate of the SBU’s Military Counterintelligence Department.

In a statement, the SBU said, “Officers of the 13th Main Directorate of the Military Counterintelligence Department of the SBU conducted a combined special operation using sea and air drones. The target was Russian radar equipment deployed on Ukrainian offshore gas platforms.”

The operation reportedly began with a drone strike from the air, followed by a precision hit from a maritime drone. The attack destroyed a Neva radar system, which Russian forces had used to track surface and aerial activity in the area. Additional damage included storage facilities and a residential module on the platform.

“The SBU specialists used two types of drones that demonstrated the effectiveness of paired deployment. Once again, we reminded the enemy that there is no place for Russian junk in the Black Sea,” the SBU added.

The agency also highlighted previous drone-based operations, including strikes on the Crimean Bridge and 11 Russian warships. These attacks, the SBU claims, have helped degrade Russian naval dominance in the Black Sea and contributed to the reopening of the grain corridor.
