- A United States official confirmed no casualties after an Iranian strike targeted an area near a U.S. naval base in Bahrain
- Reports indicated the missile hit an unoccupied section of the installation while explosions were heard near the Juffair naval facility
A United States official said Saturday that no casualties were reported following a strike targeting an area near a U.S. military installation in Bahrain, after explosions were heard close to the naval support facility in Manama.
The confirmation came after reports of smoke rising from the Juffair district, which hosts a United States Navy base.
The incident follows escalating military exchanges between Iran and U.S.-aligned forces across the Middle East, with Iranian missile activity expanding to locations hosting American military infrastructure. Officials’ confirmation that no personnel were harmed indicates defensive measures and base protection protocols remained effective during the attack.
According to Reuters, smoke was seen billowing from the Juffair area of Bahrain, where the United States Navy maintains operational facilities supporting regional maritime operations. A U.S. official later confirmed that the strike caused no casualties among American personnel.
Bahraini political analyst Dr. Ahmed Alkhuzaie told The Jerusalem Post that the missile struck what he described as an unoccupied section of the base. “Iran hit an empty quarter of a US military base in Bahrain,” Alkhuzaie said, speaking to the newspaper while sheltering in the Gulf region.
Earlier, a source confirmed to The Jerusalem Post that blasts were heard near the naval installation, suggesting either missile impact or interception activity in the vicinity. Authorities in Bahrain did not immediately release a detailed damage assessment or official statement outlining the extent of physical damage.
The naval installation in Juffair serves as a logistics and operational hub for United States maritime forces operating in the Persian Gulf. The facility supports regional security missions, fleet coordination, and sustainment operations tied to naval deployments across strategic waterways.
Military bases hosting forward-deployed forces typically maintain layered defensive measures designed to mitigate missile threats. These protections may include early warning radar systems, hardened infrastructure, and coordinated air defense responses intended to reduce risks to personnel and critical equipment.
