South-Eastern Ukraine became the first battlefield to test Russian T-90A

Modern Russian T-90A tanks were first time combat tested in Ukraine. reported

According to the available data, T-90A tanks were spotted near Pridorozhny and Novoannovka in Lugansk region in august 2014.

T-90s are also said to be used during assault on Ukrainian positions near Lugansk airport.


Before that, there was no available official statements or proofs that T-90s were used in combat.

The T-90 is a Russian third-generation main battle tank that is essentially a modernisation of the T-72B, incorporating many features of the T-80U (it was originally to be called the T-72BU, later renamed to T-90). Russia operates 930 T-90A as of 2014
