Russia’s defense heavyweight Rostec has announced the delivery of a new batch of armored infantry and airborne vehicles to the Russian military.
The delivery, carried out by Rostec’s subsidiary “Kurganmashzavod,” included BMD-4M airborne combat vehicles and BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, both equipped with additional protection systems.
The upgraded vehicles feature enhanced armor, lattice screens, and “Nakidka” cloaking kits designed to reduce visibility in thermal and radar spectrums. Made from non-combustible materials, these kits are intended to increase the survivability of the vehicles in combat conditions, providing an extra layer of defense against modern battlefield threats.
A spokesperson from Rostec commented on the recent production achievements, stating, “For the first nine months of 2024, Kurganmashzavod increased the output of BMPs and BMDs by 20% compared to the same period last year. The facility is operating at a high pace, with some production lines running around the clock. This enables us to meet the requirements of the state defense order efficiently, delivering quality products on time.”
This development comes as part of a broader effort by Russia to enhance its military’s operational readiness amid war in Ukraine. The continuous production and deployment of BMD-4M and BMP-3 vehicles aim to strengthen the capabilities of Russian ground forces, equipping them with modern technology to face diverse combat scenarios.
The BMD-4M and BMP-3 vehicles are known for their versatility and combat performance, making them valuable assets on the battlefield. The BMD-4M is designed for airborne operations, providing rapid deployment and maneuverability, while the BMP-3 offers strong firepower and protection for infantry units.
