Navistar Defense awards $31 million for 4×4 and 6×6 trucks for Iraq

The U.S. Army recently awarded Navistar Defense, LLC a foreign military sales contract for the purchase of 4×4 and 6×6 military trucks for the government of Iraq. 

The contract, announced Friday by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), is worth more than $31.4 million is covers foreign military sales for Iraq.

According to the DoD’s statement, Navistar Defense, Lisle, Illinois, was awarded a $31,437,478 firm-fixed-price foreign military sales (Iraq) contract for procurement of 4×4 and 6×6 trucks. Bids were solicited via the internet with one received.

Work will be performed in Lisle, Illinois, with an estimated completion date of Sept. 27, 2020. Fiscal 2018 operations and maintenance Army funds in the amount of $31,437,478 were obligated at the time of the award. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Warren Michigan, is the contracting activity (W56HZV-18-F-0106).

Early, the president of Navistar Defense Kevin Thomas said that since 2004, Navistar Defense has delivered nearly 7,000 trucks and buses to Iraq through foreign military sales contracts

“As a proven partner, we’re proud to supply the Iraq Army with a highly versatile and easy-to-maintain 7000-series tactical military support truck that offers greater efficiencies in support, spare parts, training, and operations,” also noted Kevin Thomas.

This equipment is being used by Iraqi security forces in the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defense.  Navistar Defense’s dealer in Iraq, Hama, provides parts and service support to Navistar vehicles in Iraq and the region.
