Bogdan Corporation to unveil its new BARS-8 multi-function armored vehicle at IDEX 2017

Bogdan Corporation is developing a new multi-function all-terrain armored vehicle that will be unveiled at the IDEX 2017 exhibition in February, company officials have confirmed to Defence Blog.

According to press service of Bogdan Corporation, the new BARS-8 multi-function armored vehicle expects to receive orders from Ukraine’s military and security forces at least for 10 multi-purpose BARS-8 vehicles within contract which amounts approximately to 60 mln. UAH (USD 2.2 mln).

The BARS-8 was designed in Ukraine and is equipped according to the most up-to-date demands arisen by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

The multipurpose 4×4 armoured vehicle Bars-8 uses a 4×4 Dodge Ram chassis which offers high level of mobility to meets the world modern requirement of modern military combat vehicle. In armoured personnel carrier variant, the vehicle can carry a total of 10 military personnel including commander, driver and gunner.

The BARS-8 can be fitted with a wide range of weapons systems including open-top manual turret or remotely controlled weapon station which can be armed with a machine gun up to 12.7mm caliber.

The vehicle is motorized with a 6.7l turbo diesel engine made by Cummins (385 h.p.). It can run at a maximum road speed of 110 km/h. The BARS-8 has a total combat weight of 8,500 kg and its has a payload capacity of 2, 000 kg. Mine and ballistic protection according to STANAG 4569 Level 2 standard.
