One-way attack drones, commonly known as suicide drones, have destroyed a large ammunition depot near the village of Sergiyevka in Russia’s Voronezh region.
The attack occurred overnight and resulted in the destruction of a substantial cache of missiles, artillery shells, tank rounds, and small arms ammunition.
The Governor of Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, claimed that all the drones were allegedly shot down, but fragments fell on the “explosive objects” within the depot, triggering the detonation. Gusev did not specify the number of drones involved.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense did not report any drone interceptions in the Voronezh region. They did, however, confirm the downing of an aerial vehicle over the Belgorod region.
Local residents reported hearing a massive explosion followed by intense detonations throughout the night. The smoke plume from the site is still visible from several kilometers away.
This ammunition depot is a critical supply point for Russian forces engaged in combat operations in Ukraine. The loss of this facility could significantly impact their logistical capabilities.
