U.S. Army awards AECOM $9M for Assault Breacher Vehicle

The U.S. Army Contracting Command has awarded AECOM a $9 million contract for Assault Breacher military mine- and explosives-clearing vehicle.

In a statement made Thursday, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has reported that AECOM Management Services Corp. was awarded a $9 million contract for the purchase of linear demolition charge systems, spares and data items for the Assault Breacher vehicle weapon system.

Work is expected to be completed by 17 January 2024.

The Assault Breacher Vehicle is an engineering vehicle equipped with a mine-plough and line charges.

These tracked combat vehicles were especially designed to clear pathways for troops and other vehicles through minefields and along roadside bombs and improvised explosive devices.

It allows obstacles to be pushed out of the way during breach missions, can withstand several mine blasts, and is equipped with explosives to clear lanes of travel.

With increased capabilities and efficiency, the Assault Breacher Vehicle greatly reduces the clearing time from hours to minutes. This allows assets in the rear to advance forward faster to provide additional support or aid as needed.
