On January 26, 2018, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov has announced plans to establish a modern helicopter service for the rescuers of the State Emergency Service, the police and the military of the National Guard.
According to the Interior Minister, in 2018 Ukraine will receive the first mobile detachment – the modern helicopter service. This will allow moving to a new quality level. The new helicopter service can be used for transporting passengers or cargo, as well as for performing combat or surveillance, and rescue missions.

“This year, the Interior Ministry plans to implement an ambitious project within the framework of the 2020 Development Strategy: the establishment of a modern helicopter service for rescuers of the State Emergency Service, the police and the military of the National Guard in cooperation with the French Airbus-Eurocopter. We will be able to save human lives, chase criminals and fight with the enemy on modern French helicopters from the air,” also noted Interior Minister Spokesperson Artem Shevchenko.

The new Ukraine’s helicopter service will use for traffic control, ground support, search and rescue, observation, air patrol and control of large-scale public events and/or public order incidents. It is expected that new helicopter service will be equipped with more than 55 helicopters included the new Airbus’ H145 and upgraded Mi-8MSB-V and Mi-2MSB.
