«Yuzhnoye SDO» and «Rheinmetall Defence» to develop new mobile air defence system

Yuzhnoye State Design Office (Yuzhnoye SDO) and Rheinmetall Defence have signed a memorandum of agreement to co-develop a new mobile air defence system with 35mm anti-aircraft cannon, that was reported by military-informant.com.

The new autonomous and mobile air defence system will be based on the chassis of the wheeled armoured personnel carrier. The self-propelled anti-aircraft gun will be fitted with a 35 mm Oerlikon gun.

This highly mobile 35 mm air defence system with integrated tracking radar and electro-optical sensor unit is a powerful, autonomous shooter capable of being used in various kinds
of missions.

The integrated 35 mm Oerlikon Revolver cannon provides superior fire power and accuracy. Combined with the Oerlikon Ahead air burst ammunition the gun achieves a high effectiveness against various kinds of air or ground targets. Air targets are engaged while the vehicle is standing. Ground targets of opportunity can be engaged on the move.
