A Ukrainian Special Armored Vehicle (SBA) “Novator-2” was targeted by FPV drones while carrying out a combat mission near Chasiv Yar.
The vehicle was initially struck by a drone that hit its front right wheel. Despite the damage, the Novator-2 continued to move for approximately 4 to 5 kilometers before the crew noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment and promptly evacuated the vehicle.
Fortunately, all the soldiers inside the vehicle survived the attack. However, they suffered concussions and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital. The manufacturer of the armored vehicle, Ukrainian Armor, confirmed that the enemy continued the assault, launching two more drones and conducting artillery strikes on the vehicle.
Photos provided by members of a National Guard unit show the aftermath of the drone attacks on the armored vehicle. The Novator-2 has since been evacuated, and the company stated, “We will definitely restore it.”
The Novator-2 is a new modification based on the Ford F-550 chassis, developed with experience from various units operating in combat conditions. The vehicle has been extended by 10 centimeters, allowing for an armored section that increases seating capacity from five to ten passengers. The front and rear suspension systems have also been reinforced, and the vehicle’s overall weight has increased by 2 tons, bringing it to 9,660 kg, while its payload capacity has risen to 3,340 kg.
Additional features include 5-centimeter-thick armored windows and an extra roof hatch.
