Ukraine soldiers die in mortar explosion during tactical exercises

On the morning of July 6, at the Rivne firing range, three soldiers died during the tactical exercises, and nine others were injured, said in a statement by the press service of the Land Forces of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

“During the brigade tactical exercises with firing at the 233rd Rivne Military Polygon 3 soldiers were killed in injuries incompatible with life and 9 were injured at various degrees of severity,” the report said.

The soldiers were killed by a suspected mortar explosion during tactical exercises, the statement said, adding that there would be an official investigation.

The local media, referring to the Defence Ministry, reported that the tragedy occurred around 6:00 on the Rivne firing range.

Currently, brigade tactical training is suspended.
