Ukraine discloses details of secret Palyanytsya missile

Ukraine unveiled the first official images of its new long-range drone missile.

The visual reveal follows President Volodymyr Zelensky’s announcement on Independence Day that Ukraine now possesses this advanced weapon system.

The “Palyanytsya” drone missile, which was featured in a video released by the Ukrainian initiative “United24,” is designed to target Russian airfields and other strategic sites from which attacks on Ukraine are launched. The video offers a glimpse of the drone’s aerodynamic design, which closely resembles that of traditional cruise missiles.

The missile features a central body with forward-positioned wings and a tail section equipped with four control surfaces, a configuration typical of cruise missiles. Launched from the ground, the “Palyanytsya” is powered by a turbojet engine, enabling it to achieve long-range capabilities. The engine is reportedly adjustable for optimal fuel efficiency, allowing the missile to maintain an economical flight speed over extended distances.

Due to the classified nature of the project, specific technical details about the “Palyanytsya” remain undisclosed. However, sources suggest that the missile’s range is sufficient to place more than two dozen enemy airfields within its strike radius.

The development of the “Palyanytsya” drone missile reflects Ukraine’s commitment to enhancing its defensive and offensive capabilities in response to continued Russian aggression. This new weapon adds to the arsenal of long-range strike options available to the Ukrainian military, offering a strategic tool to disrupt and neutralize enemy operations at critical locations.
