Spain orders Iveco military trucks

The Spanish Army has signed a contract with Iveco Defence Vehicles for the supply of 700 multi-purpose military trucks for the Spanish armed forces, the company announced on 16 June.

Iveco’s bid for the contract was selected after three months of off-road and on-road trials.

The frame contract will see around 700 trucks delivered, with options to order more over the next six years. The order includes a number of Iveco models, including 8×8, 6×6 and 4×4 high-mobility trucks.

The trucks will be delivered in a range of configurations, including being fitted with different demountable hook-lift bodies, fuel tankers, load-handling systems and military vehicle recovery cranes. All vehicles have interchangeable unprotected and protected chassis-mounted cabins. The cabins are also designed to accommodate various military communications and command systems.

The contract will also see Iveco handle the logistics support of the fleet following delivery.
