From July 21 to 22, the 60th Transport group of Air Force Logistics Command (AFLC) had a ‘training and evaluation of supporting for air transportation’ with the Army, Marine corps and Korea airport service at the 5th Air Mobility Wing.
It was the 24th such training this year, but for the first time, Army Logistics Command, Marine Logistics Group and Korea Airport Service also participated to enhance jointness and air operation capabilities, making this training even more significant.
Estimators with 27 years of experience in the air transport sector started the training with a mission performance evaluation to fairly evaluate and inspect the airborne aircraft passenger screening, hazardous items reading, air cargo guarding, loading and unloading ability, etc.
This was followed by civil-military combined air transportation training. In this session, the ability of the trainees to perform an unloading using private equipment in an emergency situation was tested for the first time, while crews unloaded supplies from the military transport using equipment belonging to Korea Airport Service during air landing training.
Next was airdrop and airlift salvage training. All the crews mobilized CN-235 aircraft of the Air Force, and CH-47 of the Army, and had an actual training with urgent supplies airdrop and salvage procedures.
Colonel Kim Ho-deok, chief of airlift office, Air Force Headquarters, who organized the training, said, “This training is essential to enhance the specialization level of air transport-related officials in wartime, as well as to enhance all three forces’ mission capabilities and ability to support air line of communication. Whether we are working in times of peace or in times of war, we will make our best efforts to enable the quick air transport of the supplies our military needs.”
