South Korea decided to launch mass production of M-SAM missile interceptor system

A South Korea’s military has decided to launch mass production of M-SAM missile interceptor system to target North Korea’s operational ballistic missiles.

South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) has announced that was approved mass production of M-SAM missile interceptor system during the meeting on 17 November.

The M-SAM, also known as Cheolmae II, is an improved multi-function surface-to-air missile interceptor system developed for the Republic of Korea Army. The new systems could be used to target North Korea operational ballistic missiles.

South Korea’s defense committee said the purpose of M-SAM development is to “secure a medium-range and medium-sized interceptor system, in response to North Korea ballistic missile and aircraft attacks.”

The M-SAM missile interceptor system to play a crucial role in intercepting North Korea’s midrange ballistic missiles at an altitude of 20 km above the ground.
