The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia has released imagery showing the new PASARS-16 short range air defence system, also known as the Terminator, being used during a live fire exercise of the 98th Air Brigade of the Serbian Air Force and Air Defence.
The Serbian Ministry of Defence reported that the new PASARS-16 Terminator short range air defense system takes part at military exercises of the 98th Air Brigade of the Serbian Air Force and Air Defence at the Pasuljanske Livade training range.
According to the statement, the upgraded variant of the new PASARS-16 Terminator short range air defense system successfully conducted initial firing trials.
The first example of the PASARS-16 is fitted with Bofors 40 mm automatic cannon. It is based on a 6×6 FAP 2026 military truck chassis with an armoured cabin with two seats.
The weapon station accommodates two operators to control the cannon and optional the launch of the two surface-to-air missile RLN-1C missiles. The new Serbia-made air defence system has an effective range of 4000 m (with missiles – maximum range 12000 meters) for both air and ground targets.
It is expected that extensive series of trials of the new air defense system will be completed by the end of this year and soon the Terminator air defence system will be adopted on services of Serbian Army.
