Russian military releases photo showing B-52 bomber flying above Syria

The Russian military has released footage of a US B-52 Stratofortress heavy long-range bomber flying above Syria.

An Instagram account claiming to be of a Russian pilot of a fighter jet, posted a picture purportedly of a US B-52 Stratofortress heavy long-range bomber flying above Syria.

The released photo is showing B-52 Stratofortress returns after concluding operations against ISIS terror group and flying over Syria. No further information has been made available regarding the date or place of this photo.

Previously, was reported that B-52 bombers have been deployed in the Middle East region, along with more than 400 airmen, to the air campaign in Syria and Iraq against the ISIS terror group. But in April  2018 was reported that the final squadrons of B-52 Stratofortresses have returned home to the Minor Air Force Base in North Dakota after completing extensive military operations in the fight against ISIS in the Middle East and targeting Assad regime.

The US-led coalition of 69 nations has conducted an air campaign against ISIS in Syria and Iraq since the summer of 2014.

The B-52 now replaced by the supersonic variable-sweep wing B-1 Lancer as the primary bomber, according to US Air Force spokesman.

The B-52 is a subsonic long-range bomber that can fly at altitudes of up to 50,000 feet and deploy the widest range of weapons in the US aerial arsenal.

The aircraft has been operated by the US Air Force since the 1950s.

It should also be noted that this Instagram account early also posted the photos which showing probably how Russian fighter jets intercept F-22 Raptor in Syria. The author of the post claimed to have spotted the F-22 in flight through by an infrared search and track (IRST) system of Russian Su-35 fighter jet.
