Russian defence company unveiled “Terminator 2” armoured fighting vehicle for Syrian President

The new BMPT-72 fire support armoured fighting vehicle, also known as Terminator 2, was unveiled at Russian air base at Hmeymim in western Syria, during the visit of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad visited a Russian air base at Hmeymim in western Syria on Tuesday, his first visit to the base from which Russian jets have supported his war effort.

The Terminator 2, is a new version of the BMPT tank support combat vehicle developed by UralVagonZavod Corporation, Russia. The vehicle offers new protection and fire power especially in urban operations. The BMPT-72 is able to fight a full range of modern targets as main battle tank, armoured infantry fighting vehicles and other combat vehicles, dismounted infantry, and guided missile combat teams.

The new vehicle, fitted with guided weapon system, is capable of destroying infantry vehicles, enemy tanks and other armoured objects.

The multipurpose tank support combat vehicle BMPT-72 is built on the chassis of T-72 battle tank.

The BMPT-72 can survive in different climatic zones, including urban areas, and in any light conditions.
