Russia unveils updated version of BMD-4M2 airborne assault vehicle

The joint stock company “Kurganmashzavod, one of the leaders of the Russian military industrial complex,  has displayed the new version of BMD-4 airborne combat vehicle with “Sinica” (in Russian – tits constitute the family of small passerine birds ) turret.

That was reported by rg.ru.

The new updated version of airborne combat vehicle called BMD-4M2. The main peculiarity of BMD-4M2 is that the original power unit and driving gear are changed to standard one, used for BMP-3. It helps to decrease the time of airborne assault vehicle servicing in the army and decrease the price of production within government defence odder of Russian Federation Military Department.

The BMD-4M2 fitted with a version of a “Sinica” manned turret. The Sinica turret is fundamentally different from previous models in that it has a panoramic sight with a thermal imaging channel.

The BMD-4M2 is also fully amphibious with two water jets mounted on each side of the back of the hull and can swim at speeds of up to 10 km/h.
