In 2016, Rosoboronexport, part of the Rostec State Corporation, began promoting the Uran-9 multipurpose combat robotic system on the international market.
The Uran-9 is designed to provide remote reconnaissance and fire support for combined arms, reconnaissance, and counter-terrorism units. The system consists of two reconnaissance and fire support robots, a transporter for their movement, and a mobile control station.
The robots are armed with a 30 mm 2A72 automatic cannon, a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun, and Ataka anti-tank guided missiles. The weapon configuration can be adjusted according to customer requirements.
They are also equipped with a laser warning system, as well as target detection, identification, and tracking equipment.
The Uran-9 is particularly suited for local military and counter-terrorism operations, including urban environments. Its use can greatly reduce personnel casualties.
“Russian developers possess all the necessary competencies to create modern military robotics that will be in demand on the international market. This is a fast-growing segment of the arms industry, so Rosoboronexport will develop and implement a long-term marketing strategy to promote such systems, including as part of integrated security projects,” said Boris Simakin, head of the Analysis and Long-Term Planning Department at Rosoboronexport.
