Photos: Deployed bomber stops at Morón Air Base

A B-52 Stratofortress stops at Morón Air Base, Spain, Jan. 17, 2018. A total of four strategic bombers have deployed to Europe to conduct theater integration and training.

The four B-52s and approximately 300 Airmen from Minot Air Force Base, N.D., have been conducting operations out of RAF Fairford, England since Jan. 9, 2018.

Through U.S. and Spanish cooperation, Morón Air Base has a long history of supporting bomber operations and serving the strategic deterrence requirements of U.S. and NATO allies for decades.

The Boeing B-52 Stratofortress is an American long-range, subsonic, jet-powered strategic bomber. The B-52 was designed and built by Boeing, which has continued to provide support and upgrades. It has been operated by the United States Air Force (USAF) since the 1950s. The bomber is capable of carrying up to 70,000 pounds (32,000 kg) of weapons, and has a typical combat range of more than 8,800 miles (14,080 km) without aerial refueling.
