Mystery buyer in Europe orders Elbit’s EW systems

Elbit Systems Ltd. announced two contracts valued at approximately $175 million to supply advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) and Directed Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM) Self-Protection Suites to a NATO European country.

The contracts, which will be executed over five years, aim to enhance the defensive capabilities of the country’s air fleet.

Under the agreements, Elbit Systems will deliver its Self-Protection Suites for installation on Embraer C-390 Millenium transport aircraft and Airbus H225M helicopters. Notably, the C-390 contract includes a separate arrangement with another European country to equip their Embraer C-390 Millenium aircraft with Elbit’s Advanced EW Suite.

The Self-Protection Suites integrate a range of cutting-edge technologies, including a Digital Radar Warning Receiver, Infrared Missile Warning System (MWS), Laser Warning System (LWS), Countermeasure Dispenser System (CMDS), and Elbit’s proprietary MUSIC™ DIRCM System. These systems are designed to autonomously detect, analyze, and neutralize diverse threats, ensuring superior defense capabilities.

As part of the C-390 contract, Elbit will also supply the SPEAR Advanced ECM (AECM) Pod, a modular system that can be easily installed and transferred between aircraft on the flight line. This addition further enhances the flexibility and operational readiness of the aircraft.

“With our EW Self-Protection Suites installed on over 30 aircraft types and deployed across multiple countries, including several NATO members, Elbit Systems is recognized as a global leader in Electronic Warfare and DIRCM technology,” said Oren Sabag, General Manager of Elbit Systems ISTAR & EW. “These new contracts further reinforce our global position in the area of airborne Self-Protection Suites.”

Sabag highlighted the modular design of the systems, emphasizing their ability to receive continuous updates to adapt to evolving threats. “Our advanced modular design allows continuous updates, ensuring adaptation to evolving threats and providing a rapid response to enhance the safety of both aircrews and platforms,” he added.

These contracts highlight the growing demand for advanced self-protection capabilities within NATO, as member nations continue to modernize their defense systems to address emerging security challenges. Elbit’s technologies offer critical protection for aircrews operating in increasingly complex threat environments, reinforcing the company’s reputation as a leader in electronic warfare and self-protection solutions.
