The Myanmar Army has shown growing interest in Russian unmanned ground vehicles, including the Uran-9 combat unmanned ground vehicle.
Myanmar’s Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, currently visiting the Russian Federation, was accompanied by Lt-Gen Soe Htut, senior officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), and Myanmar’s Military Attaché to Russia, Brig-Gen Nyunt Swe. The delegation visited the No. 766 Production and Technological Equipment Center.
During the visit, the Senior General and his delegation observed demonstrations of remote-controlled mine-clearing vehicles, combat vehicles, and firefighting systems, including live test drives. After viewing the armored vehicles, they also took part in a ride demonstration. Officials provided detailed explanations about the systems.
The Senior General was also shown Russia’s latest unmanned ground platforms, including the Uran-9 tracked combat vehicle, the Uran-6 mine-clearing system, the Uran-14 multi-purpose UGV, and several small-scale robotic systems.
The Uran-9 is a multipurpose unmanned combat vehicle designed to conduct remote reconnaissance and provide fire support for counter-terrorism, reconnaissance, and military operations in urban environments. Equipped with a range of weapons and advanced sensors, the Uran-9 aims to enhance the combat effectiveness of infantry units while providing greater protection to personnel.
