Iveco Defence Vehicles Supplies Protected Military Trucks to the Bundeswehr

Iveco Defence Vehicles announces that on October 29, 2015 the German Bundeswehr – represented by BAAINBw (Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support) – and Iveco Defence Vehicles signed a contract for the supply of 133 Trakker trucks to be delivered in 2016 – 2019. The tender invitation was issued in 2014 and resulted in the selection of Iveco Defence Vehicles, whose bid was rated as the best in both technical and economic terms.

The contract comprises 8×8 vehicles from Iveco’s militarized Trakker range of trucks, which will be supplied in five different configurations including various types of ISO-container-transport body work, some with hydraulic crane and winch systems, and represents the next step in the so called GTF-procurement-project of the German Army.

All vehicles will be supplied with a protected cab which currently offers among the best-in-class levels of ballistic, mine and IED protection. These cabs also provide the users with a high level of crew comfort and are designed to accommodate a variety of modern military communication and command systems.

Over the last decade, Iveco Defence Vehicles has delivered nearly 1,000 vehicles from its wide product range (4×2, 4×4, 6×2, 6×4, 6×6 and 8×8) to the German Army, including 250 protected and unprotected customised heavy trucks from the Trakker range in different configurations (e.g. GTF 8×8, TEP-90, STW-8×8, Tipper-8×8-FSA, Tractor-6×6-FSA and FTW-6×4), which have already been extensively fielded in operational theatres.

Recent contract awards with the Bundeswehr also include 115 heavy ISO-container-transport trucks with air suspension, based on the new Trakker 6×6 in militarized Euro VI version for Medical Emergency Hospitals (MSE System) with deliveries starting in Q4/2015.

These sales successes with the German Army are the latest in a series of achievements for this durable, highly reliable range of trucks, which has been procured in different configurations by defence forces across Europe, including Switzerland, the UK, Poland, Spain and Italy.
