GDELS to unveil new artillery system in Madrid

General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) will debut a new self-propelled artillery system at the upcoming International Defence & Security Exhibition (FEINDEF) in Madrid.

The system integrates the ASCOD tracked chassis with the fully automated Artillery Gun Module (AGM) 155/52, marking a new modular approach to battlefield fire support.

The platform is the result of cooperation between GDELS and KNDS. The turret, based on the proven design of the German PzH 2000, has been adapted into the AGM format and mounted onto a modified ASCOD 2 Infantry Fighting Vehicle chassis. The system offers a lighter and more mobile alternative to traditional heavy artillery, with a focus on automation and rapid deployment.

The integration of the AGM with the ASCOD chassis provides a balance between firepower, protection, and tactical mobility. The system is designed to meet the needs of modern artillery forces that require enhanced survivability and flexible mission profiles.

The new system combines state-of-the-art lethality and mobility, with a modular architecture that enables future upgrades and adaptation to customer-specific requirements.

The unveiling of the system in Madrid reflects growing demand in NATO and allied countries for mobile, protected artillery capable of network-centric operations.

The AGM turret features full automation for loading and fire control, reducing crew size and enhancing operational tempo. Coupled with the ASCOD chassis, which is already in service with several European armies, the new system aims to reduce logistical complexity while maintaining high battlefield performance.
