The commander of Egypt’s naval forces, Rear Admiral Osama Mounir, attended in Hamburg, Germany the inauguration of a German-built Egyptian submarine on Thursday, according to the Egyptian Armed Forces spokesperson.

The submarine was built by the German ThyseenKrupp Marine System.

In his speech at the inauguration, Mounir stated that this “great technological addition” to Egypt ‘s navy will further its capability to bolster Egyptian national security.

The inauguration of the submarine was attended by the German Navy Vice Admiral Rainer Brinkmann, Egypt’s ambassador to Germany Badr Abdel-Atti, as well the Egyptian consul in Hamburg and a number of German and Egyptian military officials.
