Taiwan has bolstered its coastal defense capabilities by deploying a new type of mobile radar vehicle equipped with advanced 3D radar systems.
The civil car-based systems, spotted recently on the shores of Penghu, are a new upgrade in Taiwan’s efforts to monitor and protect its maritime boundaries.
The mobile coastal radar vehicles are equipped with rotating radar systems, which have been dubbed “homegrown 3D radars” by local observers due to their indigenous development and deployment. The 3D radar technology provides comprehensive surveillance capabilities, allowing for precise detection and tracking of aerial and maritime threats.
These vehicles represent an enhancement in the ability to monitor the surrounding waters. Such 3D radar systems enable to detect and respond to potential threats with greater accuracy and speed.
