Quantum Systems wins $19.7M Romanian drone contract

Quantum Systems, a leading developer of dual-use reconnaissance drones, has secured a contract to supply the Romanian Ministry of Defence (MoD) with its advanced Vector unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

The contract, valued at approximately 18.4 million EUR ($19.7 million), was finalized on May 14, 2024, and will span over 36 months.

The decision to award the contract to Quantum Systems was based on the superior range, flight autonomy, and sensor quality of the Vector UAS, which also offers competitive pricing and robust warranty terms. The vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capable Vector drone provides the Romanian MoD with a tactical reconnaissance system that meets stringent requirements for range, flight time, and sensor capabilities. It has a flight duration of up to three hours and is equipped with the ‘Raptor’ combi-sensor, featuring both optical and infrared cameras for day and night operations under challenging conditions.

Quantum Systems, founded in 2015 and headquartered at Oberpfaffenhofen Special Airport near Munich, specializes in electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft designed to maximize flight endurance and versatility.

The company also supplies its combat-proven unmanned aerial systems to Ukraine.
