Ukrainian troops down Russian SuperCam reconnaissance drone

The 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura” successfully intercepted and neutralized a Russian reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), SuperCam, according to a report from Militarnyi.

The strike on the UAV was executed utilizing the Swedish portable anti-aircraft missile system RBS 70, manufactured by Saab.

Russian troops have been utilizing the SuperCam drone for aerial imaging, intending to create highly detailed digital maps and conduct remote aerial monitoring of territories and objects.

The RBS 70 is a portable anti-aircraft missile system developed by Bofors Defence (now known as Saab Bofors Dynamics) in Sweden and introduced in 1977. As of early 2022, 19 countries have employed RBS 70 systems, collectively acquiring 1600 launchers and over 17,000 missiles.
