U.S. Special Ops Command awards contract to Gentex for new tactical head borne systems

The U.S. Special Operations Command has contracted Gentex Corporation to provide an undisclosed number of tactical head borne systems, the U.S. Department of Defense said in a 12 April statement.

“Gentex Corp., Simpson, Pennsylvania, was awarded a $95,000,000 maximum, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, firm-fixed-price contract (H92403-19-D-0003) for the purchase of Special Operations Forces Personal Equipment Advance Requirements (SPEAR) family tactical head borne systems in support of U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM),” said in a Department of Defense statement.

Also noted that the work will be performed in Simpson, Pennsylvania and is expected to be completed by April 2024.

The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) is the contracting activity.

According to the company, Gentex Corporation’s design and engineering teams transform customer challenges into solutions that work, from fielding the lightest integrated helmets in the world to providing holistic head borne systems.

Also, company representative stressed that with their modular, scalable, open-architecture design, plus industry-leading protection, Ops-Core is today’s preferred brand of helmet systems for today’s special operations and other elite defense, law enforcement, and security forces.
